I recently haven’t had a lot of time to write, but I wanted to share this with you guys… two truths for this week.
God has really been opening my eyes and my heart to some of His wonderful truths in a new way this past week. I’ve really been challenged with the question “Is Christ really Lord over my life? Am I acting that out each and every day?”
ONE | Lordship of Christ over my life
I listened to John Macarthur’s podcast this morning about the builder building his house upon the rock, a firm foundation. He stated something that was so simple, yet so profound. Nothing revolutionary, but something wonderfully challenging, he said:
“The only validation of your salvation is a life of obedience. The only real way is if you recognize the Lordship of Jesus Christ over your life.”
Wow. I KNOW that Christ is the Lord over my life, because He is my Lord, but I’ll be honest… I don’t act, speak, or think as though He is my Lord over my life. At least not as much as I need to. I think about the fruits of the Spirit and how people can act these out, but still not be a Christian… it allows us to wonder are they/we saved at all?
The next time I get frustrated at my commute, the next time I get upset about my expectations of someone not being met, I’m going to reflect on this truth. I’m going to say to myself: “Christ, you are Lord over my life. That means you are Lord over these thoughts or words that you don’t want me to have.”
TWO | Sin Always Produces Loss
A second truth He is teaching me is one that is very familiar to us all… it’s from 1 Corinthians 6:12 –
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,”
I read John’s commentary on this and man, I’ve heard this many times, but he put it so beautifully:
“It is true that no matter what sins a believer commits, God forgives (Eph. 1:7), but not everything they do is profitable or beneficial. The price of abusing freedom and grace is very high. Sin always produces loss.”
My friends, let this resonate in your hearts as you go about your day, fix your eyes on Christ and His Lordship over your WHOLE life. And remember, sin always produces loss.
God Bless. #thenext30seconds
