Check out these verses:
- Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the Word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Acts 17:11
- Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
- All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
WOW! There is so much in these few short verses… but they all have one huge thing in common: the importance and power of the Word of God.
Now, this isn’t the ONLY thing they have in common, they also express what the Word of God does and how we are to seek after it. “With all eagerness, daily, rightly handling it, equipped for every good work.”
We also see the weight that the Scriptures hold:
- Examine daily to see if things were so (seeing if Paul was sent by God)
- Present yourself to God as one approved, as one who has no need to be ashamed.
- God’s Word is profitable for MANY things.
My prayer today as I study scripture is to be like those Jews, receiving the Word with all eagerness and to example the Scriptures daily. I pray that for us all today!
Remember: you have the keys to eternal life (John 3:14-17) and you have everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) right at your fingertips! Don’t let that go to waste! Present yourself as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2) to the Lord today… and every day!
God bless you all!
